DIVISION BOARD GAME
INTRODUCTION:
Division is a board game created to showcase a consistent graphic system and an original game play that appeals to more sophisticated and affluent market who are currently not board game buyers. Based in my researches, this market want the game to be fun, aesthetically pleasing, both collaborative and competitive, have simple instructions, and take less than 30 minutes to be played. This game is both collaborative and strategic, can be played by 4-8 people and takes 15-35 minutes which makes it suitable for “mild board gamers” (not for the hard-core ones).

The Design of the game
The Story
A group of space travelers are on a mission to find life in an unknown planet. After landing on the planet and getting out of their craft, they lose their consciousness due to alien attack. When they regain their consciousness, they realize that some of the team members have became alienated and want the mission to be unsuccessful. Now the astronauts have to identify the alienated members and act accordingly...
Visual Language
The first part of the process was to create a number of mood boards that were the tonal and aesthetic inspiration for Division.
The Gameplay
At the beginning of the game, each player secretly assumes the identity of either a Astronaut or a alien. It is the players' job to find the other member of his/her cohort and destroy the other team.
Players are selected to face off in mental tests where they can play either the “leave” or “Explore” card. As they need to get as many resources (creature cards) as possible in the shortest time frame, they astronauts prefer to Explore. Yet they must take care because although they want to advance power for their side they do not want to be too obvious in their actions and therefore reveal their identity.
Creature Cards
Each creature possesses a different resources and power.During the game, when the spinning top stops on an area of the game board, the creature with the same color as that area will be earned. All the cards are digital paintings done specifically for this project.
The Board and the Spinning Top
Spinning top is used in this game instead of dice and functions as a spaceship that can land on different parts of the planet board. When the spinning spaceship (top) lands on an area, based on the color of that area on the board, players get the chance to vote if they want to explore or leave that area, and that's how they can get the resource/creature card of that area.
Instructions Of The Game
The instruction is very concise (8 small pages overall which is front and back of the instruction manual below) and simple due to the simplicity of the game and the fact that it is designed for those who are not hard-core board gamers and want to dive right into the game without spending a lot of time learning it.
